Environmental testing may include one or more of the following: 1) extremely high and low temperatures; 2) large, swift variations in temperature; 3) salt spray and salt fog; 4) very high or low humidity; 5) wet environments; 6) high/low pressures (especially for aeronautical & space equipment) and 7) electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Compliance tests include but not limited to safety tests, emissions tests and immunity tests. Emissions tests ensure that a product will not emit harmful electromagnetic inter-ference in communication and power lines. Immunity tests ensure that a product is immune to common electrical signals and electromagnetic interference (EMI) that will be found in its operating environment. Safety tests ensure that a product will not create a hazard resultant from use of electricity, mechanical injury, extensive energy or fire, high or low temperatures, high or low pressures and, radiation of light, sound and exhaust. Product inspected and tested with compliance to particular standards is marked with CE, UL, NRTL, CSA or other equivalents.
